Inaugural Launch of Xavier Mah Consultancy Part (2)

27th July, Wednesday was a day to remember, as it was the Inaugural Launch of Xavier Mah Consultancy. I’m proud to say my little company has begun its journey on this beautiful day.

It was a night with glamour; a night with style, glitz and class! It was a whole week of hard work and sweat before the show, but I’m pretty sure it’s worth every second! I think the event, as a whole went well and the team did a brilliant job in both preparation and execution. On a more important note, I would like to take this opportunity to thank and credit everyone and every single one that have contributed to this whole XMC launch! I cannot help but to give Chilla Cup the biggest credit of all for giving the wonderful support and encouragement to me throughout this event.

It made me feel loved and blessed that night seeing all my friends showering me with so many well wishes and congratulations during the show. I want to thank all the models, photographers, stylists, make-up artistes, sponsors and friends for helping me put this show together. The designer for the event did exactly as I wanted. The music was great and the whole event was just perfect. Well-done peeps!! Despite the several small hiccups, the whole experience putting things together was just something.

Vic Teo for Opening Peformance

The last part of the walk for Neo Folk Pre-Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Showcase where all models came out with the designers was just fantastic. No words can fully express how much I’ve appreciated them for travelling up from Indonesia to impact my launch. It’s such a pleasure to working with you all!

The beauty and uniqueness of Tenun

FFKL 2011
"As a fashion designer, I was always aware that I was not an artist, because I was creating something that was made to be sold, marketed, used, and ultimately discarded," said Tom Ford.

I remember someone told me about this, "Fashion is not just beauty, it is about good attitude. Stay humble and have believe in yourself and be strong."

Festival Fesyen Kuala Lumpur (FFKL) is a yearly event.  First introduced in 2009, it is a platform for promotion and trading of Malaysian fashion and ethnic fabrics. A fashion focused event which highlight both retail and trade aspects of the fashion industry and traditional / ethnic textile industry.

FFKL provides a good platform for our local fashion designers to showcase their works. It is not about competition, but it is all about friendship and collaboration.

FFKL 2011
This event aims to promote Malaysian ethnic fabrics and preserve the rich Malaysian heritage and to establish the relevance of Malaysian ethnic fabrics to the current fashion scene. Also, it is a way to acknowledge and further enhance the existence of the various types of Malaysian ethnic fabrics.

Dato Jimmy Choo was guest of honor of the event

Recently, Berita Harian has organised its 3rd show of FFKL which took place at The Actors, Lot 10 Bukit Bintang.

Courtesy of Salina Abdullah, the editor of Berita Harian, I was extended an invitation to FFKL. Congrats!

Let’s take a look at designs and fabrics.

Inaugural Launch of Xavier Mah Consultancy Part (1)

July was a pretty bittersweet month, did a PR job for Pacifica at the start of it, wanted to reward myself a short trip to Hong Kong after a long time of work, and thought I should do a buka puasa party with my media friends to express my gratitude for their continuous support all this while. But all things fell through. I even had to call off my plan to a friend’s wedding in Penang at the very last minute.

Instead, I had my company launch party at BRDB Sales Gallery on July 27th.  A very big thank you to Chilla Cup for being my main sponsor of this grand opening!

My sponsors
Before the launch, I was feeling much worn out from work; I was considering to finally taking a break to Hong Kong to unwind myself. And if you know me well, you would probably know that I always wanted to have an official launch for my company; it’s just that I never had enough time for it, or probably one of the limiting factors was the cost. So the first week of July just passed, and I decided to do it at the end of the month, meaning I had only 2 weeks to the event. While many had thought it was impossible to organize an event in such a short period of time, my drive to having the launch was not dampened by that, but rather it strengthened me to continue.

Xavier Mah Consultancy

The launch preparation was like a real roller coaster; it was as though I had a ride on it with ups and downs in securing sponsorships, organizing the venue, planning the programme rundown, getting people to come and generally starting the event from scratch to having something remarkable.

In Action

Busy Answering & Calling...

Throughout the preparation, my day basically started early and ended late. A typical day during the preparation period was to have meetings, meetings, meetings again and again, and again calling people from time to time, anticipating the end result 24 hours around the clock. So the days were long! Counting down the days to the event was pretty daunting when there were piles of things that have not been done.

You guys are ROCK!

The feeling of seeing what the team and I had been preparing for the past 2 weeks and seeing everything went into place according to my plan was wonderful. I would say that from the moment the idea came in, to when it all happened that evening, nothing I expected, but unexpectedly wonderful.

Well, despite the short period of time, it was amazing to see the result of it. And really, it really boils down to the fact that if your mind is set to do something or achieve a goal, you can have a way to it, and eventually reach it regardless of what circumstances may be.

It would not be a great success without her, my PA! =D
To be continued...
